Kabul
One of the most historic cities in the world, Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan was believed to have been founded between 2000-1500 BC. Kabul[a] is the capital and largest city of Afghanistan. Located in the eastern half of the country, it is also a municipality, forming part of the Kabul Province; it is administratively divided into 22 municipal districts.

Jalalabad
Jalalabad is a leading center of social and trade activity because of its proximity with the Torkham border checkpoint and border crossing. It is said that the original name of Jalalabad was Adinapur. Jalalabad was named in honour of Mughal ruler Jalal-uddin in the last decade of the sixteenth century, the grandson of Babur.

Herat
Herat is an oasis city and the third-largest city in Afghanistan. Herat dates back to Avestan times and was traditionally known for its wine. The city has a number of historic sites, including the Herat Citadel and the Musalla Complex.

Mazar e Sharif
The region around Mazar-i-Sharif has been historically part of Greater Khorasan and was controlled by the Tahirids followed by the Saffarids, Samanids, Ghaznavids, Ghurids, Ilkhanates, Timurids, and Khanate of Bukhara until 1751 when it became part of the Durrani Empire (although under autonomous emirs). Eventually the city passed to a few local rulers before becoming part of Afghanistan in 1849.

Bamyan
Bamyan also spelled Bamiyan or Bamian, is the capital of Bamyan Province in central Afghanistan. Bamyan is referred to by some as the “Shining Light” and “Valley of Gods”.[6] There are several tourist attractions near the city, including the Buddhas of Bamyan, which were carved into cliffs on the north side of Bamyan city in the 6th and 7th century CE, dating them to the Hephthalite rule. Other attractions close to the city include Shahr-e Gholghola and Zuhak. In 2008, Bamyan was found to be the home of the world’s oldest oil paintings.

Kunduz
Kunduz is a city in northern Afghanistan, the capital of Kunduz Province. The city used to be called Aornos (Bactrian: οαρνο, romanized: warn) and later Walwalij or Varvaliz, a compound of the old name Warn and Bactrian: λιζο, romanized: liz, lit. ’fortress’.[6] The name Kuhandiz began to be used from the Timurid time.
